Cam Clutches

Cam Clutches are precision devices where a cam or wedging element is used to lock the inner and outer races of the clutch to transmit torque in one direction of rotation.

Cam Clutches are used for 3 main types of operation:

  • Backstopping
  • Indexing
  • Overrunning

Cam Clutches can be used for a variety of different applications, but they are most commonly used in conveyors, cranes and hoists, printing presses, packaging equipment, food processing, washing machines, pumps and fans.
